The coronavirus, or COVID-19, has become a household phrase since the pandemic first started to spread across the world in late 2019. It is known as a “novel” coronavirus since this particular strain has not been previously identified. “CO” stands for corona, “VI” stands for virus, and “D” stands for disease. The “19” designation comes from the year the virus was first identified in Wuhan, China back in November 2019.
COVID-19 can cause severe upper respiratory problems that could prove to be fatal, especially for people who already have compromised immune systems. You can become infected with it by coming into close contact (within six feet) of someone who has the disease. It can be transmitted from respiratory droplets when an infected person coughs, sneezes, or talks. You may also get it by touching a surface or object that has the virus on it, then by touching your own mouth, nose, or eyes.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that in order to protect yourself from spreading or catching this virus, people should wear personal protective equipment (PPE) while out in public and stay at least six feet apart at all times.
Atlantic Dominion Distributors understands how important it is for everyone to follow these guidelines to effectively halt the spread of this deadly virus. We are now offering ear loop style, 3-ply disposable face masks for our convenience store clients to make available to their customers. These disposable surgical masks are soft, breathable, skin-friendly, and they provide a bacterial filtration efficiency (BFE) rating of 95.4%.
Many people don’t realize that you can also get the infection from respiratory droplets floating through the air that come in contact with your eyes. That’s why we’ve also arranged to provide PPE face shields that include a clear, protective lens, head strap, and neoprene foam padding for additional comfort. These PPE face shields are durable, reusable, ready-to-wear, flexible, light weight, 100% recyclable, and made in the USA.
Stay safe, America! We’re doing our part to provide people with effective PPE options, but it’s also important to follow the CDC’s guidelines by keeping your distance from others and frequently washing your hands for at least 20 seconds after being out in public or touching anything that could have been potentially infected by another person.
